The National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) is the independent central bank of the Slovak Republic.
On 23 May 2002 after its ceremonial opening, the new headquarters building of the National Bank of Slovakia was put to use.
The building of the NBS is one of the notable landmarks of the Slovak capital, Bratislava, and is found among a complex of important national institutions. Its architectonic concept reflects the designersí philosophy, which considers the NBS as an administrator of the national wealth and expresses its unique functions as the central bank of the state. The composition principle of the building is based on the contrast between the strong horizontal base and the emergent glazed tower block.
The building has 33 above-ground floors, including 6 floors in the horizontal base. There are further 3 below-ground floors and one mezzanine floor.
